Welcome to the Aurora Education Association AEA members are committed to excellence in education and advocate for quality teaching and learning for every student in the district. Teachers are the district’s most valuable asset and make a difference every day through their dedication to provide students the highest quality education. AEA works to ensure that policies and practices at the school and district levels reflect the values and beliefs of our members. AEA represents its members in contract negotiations, including wages, hours, and conditions of employment and when necessary by filing grievances to address individual and group employee concerns. AEA also represents members through communication with district level leadership, school board members, and through representation on district committees. We are focused on providing members excellent representation to ensure a great teaching experience and an opportunity to positively impact the lives of students attending the Aurora Public Schools. |

The Aurora Education Association (AEA) is the professional organization for teachers working in the Aurora Public Schools district. AEA represents more than 1500 dedicated educators who work daily to improve the quality of education for Aurora students. AEA advocates for the interests, rights and responsibilities of Aurora teachers. Over 70% of the teachers employed in APS choose to be members of AEA.
AEA is an affiliate of the Colorado Education Association (CEA) and the National Education Association (NEA), and supports the organizational and democratic beliefs of our state and national organizations.
The AEA Officers are teachers elected by the AEA members to represent the goals of the organization and teachers. The AEA President is released full-time from teaching duties to serve the membership and direct the organization.
The AEA Board of Directors are full-time teachers who are elected to serve members across the district. The Board makes all policy decisions for AEA, which are then approved by the Association Representative Council.
The Association Representatives are full-time teachers who are elected by members at their worksites to represent the voice and interests of their members both at the worksite and at the AR Council.
We are the professional organization for the teachers of Aurora Public Schools and serve as a vehicle for effective communication with education policy makers of the district. We advocate for professional salaries, benefits and continuous improvement of every teachers' working environment and every students' learning environment and the continued delivery of quality education.

Why
We Are Successful:
We accomplish our goals through honest, frank communication between
district leadership, policy makers, the education community and
our members and through the democratic process within the AEA.
We are a powerful and viable organization because of the strength
and integrity of our membership.
Our
Mission:
Our mission is to empower licensed educators to advocate for students
and themselves in order to provide quality education, professional
excellence, and economic security.
Our
Vision:
Our vision is to be an exemplary organization working together
as powerful professionals. Through solidarity we are a collaborative
and proactive association. We are unified by our strengths and
commitment to advocacy for children and empowerment of our members.
Our
Values:
We believe every child has the right to a Great Public School
where they receive a high quality education from dedicated, highly
trained teachers in a safe, caring environment.
We believe the best educational policies and practices are developed when practicing teachers have a significant role in their development.
We believe what teachers know and can do has the greatest influence on student success.
We believe recruiting, preparing and retaining quality teachers is the central strategy for improving our schools.
We believe school reform cannot succeed unless it focuses on creating the conditions in which teachers can teach and students can learn.
We believe investing in quality teaching requires funding schools at a level which will enable success.
We believe education associations should be involved in school reform.
