The
Master Agreement between the Aurora Education Association and
the Aurora Public Schools is our most important document. It is
the result of month of negotiations between the two parties.
The
Master Agreement between the Aurora Education Association and
the Aurora Public Schools is our most important document. The
AEA-APS Master Agreement is the result of numerous negotiations
sessions over the years which have focused on creating the optimum
teaching and learning conditions for students and teachers.
Our most recent negotiations resulted in a three year agreement
with the district with subsequent reopeners in '09, and '10 for
salary, benefits and two articles or interests. Licensed staff
members will be compensated based on their appropriate placement
on steps and lanes on the salary schedule, and PERA and health
insurance will be covered. With the successful passage of the
mill levy questions all licensed staff will receive a retroactive
2% salary increase in January, 2009.
The
Master Agreement spells out ALL of the conditions under which
licensed teachers, regular, vocational, special education, counselors,
nurses and media specialists who are employed by APS work. In
addition, it spells out the compensation, including benefits licensed
personnel are to receive year to year. The agreement also recognizes
the Aurora Education Association as the sole bargaining agent
for the teachers listed above.
The current Master
Agreement expires on
July 1, 2011.
